I’m Ahyana. I’m a writer, lover, LIVEr, laugher, do gooder, great time haver, destiny creater, change maker, imperfect Jesus lover and grace embracing follower, adventurer, encourager, shopper, beautiful things appreciater, good food cooker and eater, party hoster, friend, daughter, sister, and the writer of The Simply LIVEd life.
I was born and raised in west Piladelphia (cue the theme song to the Fresh Prince of Bel Air), graduated from a public high school, earned a BA in Human Development and Family Science, an MS in Mental Health Counseling, and I’m working on a Phd in Counseling Education and Supervision with and emphasis on consultation.
I’ve been a counselor for the past five years and have worked with diverse individuals from diverse backgrounds with diverse experiences. There isn’t much I haven’t seen or heard and I count it a privilege to be a part of the lives of my clients on their journey to create the change they want to see in their lives. They remind me of the power of choosing to LIVE. I continue to enjoy the various opportunities I’ve had to travel and speak to people about the power they have to create personal and professional lives, campuses and work environments, that exude wellness.
When I’m not at the 8-5 gig, schooling, or blogging you can find me traveling, party planning or hosting, happy hour hopping, community building, trying a new recipe, shopping, laughing, corny card creating (my cards are known for their craftiness and corniness), enjoying live music in small intimate venues, exploring, basketball watching, meeting new people, or hanging out with friends and family.
