We’re taking style back to the basics today with what I absolutely consider a wardrobe staple- the button up. Now some of you may say it’s the “white” button up and others will say it’s the “chambray” – I say, it’s the style and cut, and go ahead and try either, or like me, both. The button up shirt is a closet classic and offers a great deal of versatility, whether paired with a pencil skirt, tulle skirt, boyfriend jeans, skinny jeans, classic black pants, or pants that offer a pop of color. Not to mention you can play with collar design, sleeve length, tucking it in, or letting it all hangout. If you’re like me,and stateside, at some point this Labor Day weekend you are going to shop. Why not got to that new boutique but go back to the basics and snag yourself a button up? I’m headed back to DC to get back together with some amazing friends to get back to my fun self. Until Monday! xxoo
I love my style. I like what I like, know the importance of a well make and fitted garment, pattern play and color doesn’t scare me in the least bit, and I never, never, NEVER underestimate the power of accessories. I also thoroughly appreciate anyone who curates a style of their own. A few of my style icons are women who know how to do sexy without taking everything off, amp up menswear with their own curves, curls, and pops of color, set trends as oppose to follow them, and adorn their bodies in clothes that are unapologetically reflective of them. I am pretty sure if the #IndieSpirit had the mother of all walk in closets that she’d choose pieces that would reflect the style of some of my favorite style icons Tracee Ellis Ross, Solange, Helen Lisichanh, Zoe Saldana and Kourtney Kardashian.
Beverly hills opening night shin dig or backyard soiree there’s something to be said for dressing up and enjoying the celebration festivities. Sometimes it’s all about the LD (little dress that doesn’t have to be black) and then sometime it’s about maxing out with a maxi dress. There’s patterns, pleats, sparkles, and lace. Bags, shoes, arm, ear, and neck candy. I could go on and on. Today I’ve rounded up a few of my favorite celebration worthy looks. For more of my favorite celebration styles just check out the Celebrate board on The Simply LiIVEd Life on Pinterest. xxoo
